A young man was killed and another man and five-year-old boy were injured Monday during the regatta in the "Iskar" dam near the Bulgarian capital Sofia.

The victim is a 34-year-old instructor, while the injured are his 36-year-old friend and the latter's 5-year-old son, the press office of the Interior Ministry informs.

Both men and the child sailed on a yacht in the dam. After the race, right when they have been approaching the shore and beginning to dismantle the vessel, they inadvertently came in contact with a high-voltage cable.

The instructor was killed on the spot, while his companion is listed with severe burns and in critical condition at the emergency "Pirogov" hospital in Sofia, along with his injured young son.

The case is investigated by the Eighth Police Precinct in Sofia.
