Bulgaria: Ethiopia Tops Women's World Half Marathon Championship in Bulgaria

Two Ethiopians came first and second in the women's race at the the 20th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships taking place in Kavarna, north-eastern Bulgaria.

The winner on the 21.0975 km course Saturday was Ethiopia's Meseret Hailu with a time of 66 min 55 sec, a personal best.

The second place was grabbed by another Ethiopian, Feyse Tadese, with just over 69 min.

Third finished Kenya's Pascalia Kipkoech, winner of the Sao Paolo half marathon.

67 female athletes competed at the 20th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Kavarna on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

The course in the small north-eastern Bulgarian towns is hard, featuring many turns, and the weather Saturday was not nice on the athletes, with unusually high temperatures and high humidity.

Later Saturday, the men's race in the World Half Marathon Championships will take place.
