Bulgarian President Sets on US - UN Trip: Bulgarian President Sets on US - UN Trip

Bulgarian President, Rosen Plevneliev, is leaving on a working trip to New York to participate in the 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The news was reported Saturday by the presidency press office.

Plevneliev will meet Sunday with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and will take part in the official opening of the plenary session of former US President Bill Clinton's Global Initiative.

The President will also open the school year at the Bulgarian schools in New York and will mark the country's Independence Day with the Bulgarian community there.

On September 24, he will participate in a forum dedicated to the rule of law on national and international level, along with Ban Ki Moon and a number of heads of State and country leaders.

Plevneliev's meetings at the UN headquarters include representatives of Jewish organizations, the President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, of Finland, Sauli Niinisto, of Estonia, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, and of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

On September 27, the Bulgarian President will travel to Boston to deliver a lecture and meet students from the Harvard Kennedy School. He will visit the Harvard Business School Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness and the Harvard iLab.

On the last day of the trip, September 28, he will pay a visit to the Cambridge Innovation Center and will meet the Bulgarian community in Boston.

The Bulgarian delegation also includes Foreign Minister, Nikolay Mladenov, his Deputy, Ivan Naydenov, the permanent representative of Bulgaria at the UN, Stefan Tafrov, the Bulgarian Ambassador to the US, Elena Poptodorova, the Bulgarian Consul General in New York, Radoslav Tochev, the CEO of Sofia Tech Park, Elitsa Panayotova, and a number of experts.
