Bulgarian regional center Lovech will be placed under a regime of daily schedulled stopping of running water due to a shortage following summer droughts.

People in the city, pop. 36,000, will not have any running water from 11 pm to 6 am.

Lovech mayor Mincho Kazanchiev has also forbidden washing terraces, streets and cars with drinking water.

Many villages in the Lovech Region are also placed under a water regime, with their number growing.

Due to lasting summer draughts rivers and water reservoirs in the region have reached critically low levels.

Recently the towns of Sevlievo in Gabrovo Region and Panagyurishte in Pazardzhik Region were also placed under a water regime.
