UK, Turkey Help Syria Rebels in Fight against Assad

British secret services have given information to Syrian rebels that has helped them organize attacks against forces of President Bashar Al-Assad's regime.

According to the Sunday Times, quoting a rebel Free Syrian Army reprsentative, UK authorities were aware and approving of the secret services' actions.

The services transfered to rebels, via Turkey, important information gathered from UK's two military bases in Cyprus.

"The British look at what is happening in Syria from Cyprus. Then they give the information to Turkey and the US, and the Turks give it to us," stated the unnamed representative.

For instance, it was allegedly using UK advice that rebels learned of a military unit approaching Aleppo and organized an ambus, destroying it.

The rebel representative has said that the information channel has been working for "several months."

The Syrian opposition has made a number of similar successful ambushes against army, but until now has not revealed its sources.
