The late summer heat wave that has gripped western Europe has started to arrive in Bulgaria, with highs set to rise over the week.

Until the end of next weeks, temperatures in parts of Bulgaria, especially the south-west and north-east, are expected to reach around and above 40 degrees Centigrade.

Highs Monday are expected to be in the range of 29-34 C, announced the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Air temperatures at the Black Sea will be around 25-27 C Monday, with almost the same expected for the water, 24-26 C.

The heat wave started in the end of the current week, with scorching temperatures across Spain, France and northern Italy.
