Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev has sent a letter of condolences to his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadenijad following the tragic earthquake that recently hit the country, claiming hundreds of lives.
"It was with deep sorrow that I got the news about the earthquake in Southeastern Iran that caused the dead of hundreds of Iranian citizens and caused considerable material damages," Plevneliev wrote, as cited by Bulgarian media.
"Please accept my deepest condolences for the tragic loss, as well as my most sincere sympathy to the families of those dead and injured."
The death toll from the pair of earthquakes that jolted Iran on Saturday exceeded 300, while over 3000 were injured.
Scores of villages were destroyed or damaged by the quakes, which struck East Azarbaijan province northeast of Tabriz, the country's fourth-largest city.
