Arab Studies expert Kiryak Tsonev has argued that Bulgaria's Ministry of Interior is feeding false information to the media about the July 18 bus bombing at the Burgas airport to prevent obstructions in the investigation and to alleviate social tensions.

In a Tuesday interview for private TV station bTV, he stressed that the behavior of the suspected suicide bomber, who is believed to have detonated the busload of Israeli visitors to Bulgaria, suggested that he wanted to be noticed.

Tsonev reasoned that the man caught on CCTV cameras at the Sarafovo airport in Burgas had most probably been trying to deflect attention from the actual perpetrators of the terror attack.

Counter-terrorism expert Nikolay Radulov, another participant in bTV's Tuesday morning broadcast, claimed that the bomb could have been made in Bulgaria.

He pointed out that it was not difficult to make a bomb for anybody who wished to do it, adding that one was free to take out explosive materials such as Trinitrotoluene (TNT) out of Bulgarian arms plants.

Radulov emphasized that it was not only Islam that preached suicide terrorism.

He said that terror attacks had been staged by people practicing Protestantism and a number of other religions, except for Buddhism.

"Somebody wants to spoil Bulgaria's relations with Iran", Kiryak Tsonev stated, without specifying whether it was Israel.

Straight after the horrific blast, which killed a total of seven and injured over 30, Israel blamed Iran and Hezbollah for the attack.

Radulov added that such tragic incidents were often exploited by politicians.
