Zlatko Zhivkov, mayor of Bulgarian north-western regional center Montana, was found to be in conflict of interests by the official state body for the investigation of such instances.

If Bulgaria's Supreme Administrative Court determines that the commission's findings are correct, theen Zhivkov can be dismissed from office.

The Conflict of Interests Commission has found that during his last term as Montana mayor, during 2009-10 Zhivkov pushed a decision to buy medicines from a pharmacy belonging to his wife, using some BGN 30,000 of town money.

The Montana mayor further pressured some of his subordinates not to assess the spending made by the town hall.

The medicines were to be used by the Montana Municipality in its regular supplying of kindergartens and war veterans.

Zlatko Zhivkov was elected for a fourth time to be the mayor of Montana in October 2011, running under the banner of small party VMRO-NIE.
