A nationwide strike in Greece has brought the country's transport networks to a standstill, affecting railways, ferries, buses, taxis, and more
Conservative New Democracy Party has won 29.5% of the votes in Greece's parliamentary elections on Sunday, according to official projections of the result.
The anti-bailout far-left Greek coalition Syriza is second with 27.1%, according to the Greek interior ministry, quoted by the BBC.
AFP confirms that first official estimate and adds that Pasok is projected to win 12.3%.
Based on that official projection, New Democracy could theoretically form a new government with Pasok alone, having 161 of the 300 seats in parliament between them, the BBC calculates.
These are numbers from Singular Logic, commissioned for the job by the Greek government:
New Democracy - 29.5%, SYRIZA - 27.1%, PASOK - 12.3%, Independent Greeks - 7.6%, Golden Dawn - 7%, Democratic Left - 6.2%, Communist Party of Greece 4.5%.
Later, as of 10 pm local, and 8 pm GMT, on Sunday, the BBC reported that with 40% of the vote counted, New Democracy has 30.45%, Syriza - 26.04%, Pasok - 12.85%. Based on these figures, New Democracy and Pasok would have 165 seats between them in the 300-seat parliament.
