Over 80% of all Bulgarian employers have only finished high school or have an even lower education level, according to a study conducted by the Bulgarian Industrial Association.
There are some 300 000 active companies in Bulgaria and 80% of their owners have low education, Serafim Petrov, an expert from the Association, has told local media.
"This is worrying, since they want to hire highly qualified employees for low-qualified labor in exchange for low salaries," Petrov has explained, as cited by profit.bg.
The expert has alarmed that many employers in Bulgaria force university students to pay for internships. He has also criticized the students, saying that many of them do not put enough efforts into their qualification.
According to Serafim Petrov, job offers in Bulgaria often contain unrealistically high requirements for young people, which forces many youngsters to seek jobs abroad.
