The Deputy Head of Bulgaria's State Agency for National Security, DANS, Ivan Drashkov, has submitted his resignation.

The news was announced by Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, speaking Friday morning in an interview for the State TV BNT.

Despite being asked several times by the host to explain what exactly has happened, Borisov refused to offer any details, and only said he will approve the resignation later in the day.

Drashkov was fired from DANS in October 2008 over the scandal with the infamous "Galeria" case, which involved tapping phone conversations of journalists from almost all major media, as well as of some Members of Parliament.

He then filed a Court claim and during the entire course of the case kept saying he did not want his job at DANS back, but was only seeking "moral satisfaction."

One year later, he returned to the country's FBI after being reinstated at the post by the Supreme Administrative Court.

Drashkov was tangled in another scandal as well, this one related to his brother Petar Drashkov, who emerged as a businessman who has illegally transferred very expensive municipal property in downtown Sofia.
