Daniel Mitov Ready for Foreign Minister Role Amid Geopolitical Test in Bulgaria
Daniel Mitov, Deputy Chairman of GERB, has expressed his readiness to assume the position of Acting Foreign Minister
Media and insiders in Bulgaria are bidding for the names of two new members of the cabinet in the aftermath of resignations of Health Minister, Stefan Konstantinov, and Economy and Energy Minister, Traicho Traikov,
According to official rules, their names will become known only after Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, officially submits the nominations in the Parliament.
The most complicated puzzle is who will dare to take over Konstantinov's post since this individual will become the record for the country's modern history fourth Health Minister in just two years of GERB's term.
The most often mentioned names are the ones of the Head of the Parliamentary Budget Committee, Menda Stoyanova, from GERB, and of Deputy Finance Minister, Vladislav Goranov, both considered good financial experts. It has already been reported that the new Health Minister will be a manager, not a doctor as his or her predecessors.
Another possibility, the Head of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Desislava Atanasova, has already been rejected by the PM. There is also the option that Borisov will personally invite one of the directors of large hospitals, who have proven themselves as good managers.
Goranov is also among the names circulating as possible replacement of Traikov, whose resignation unlike Konstantinov's was unexpected and came as surprise. The other one is Traikov's Deputy, Delyan Dobrev, who is in charge of the energy policy and projects at the Ministry.
