Six members of a drug gang engaged in cocaine trafficking have been arrested in Bulgaria by the country's Main Directorate for Combatting Organized Crime.

The gang has been involved in cocaine trafficking from South America to the European Union. Its six members have been busted while trying to enter Bulgaria through the Kulata border checkpoint with Greece.

Capsules containing a total of 1.1 kg of cocaine have been discovered swallowed by one of the gang members. The cocaine was to be distributed to the Bulgarian market, according to the authorities.

Cocaine, amphetamines, lots of mobile phones, international passports with Dominican Republic stamps, plane tickets and money have been discovered by the police in the suspects'homes.
