Bulgaria's Parliament will ratify Croatia's EU accession treaty on Friday, becoming the third EU country after Hungary and Slovakia to do it.

Croatia's Parliamentary Speaker Boris Sprem will visit Bulgaria on Friday at the invitation of her Bulgarian counterpart Tsetska Tsacheva in order to attend the ratification.

Sprem will also meet with Bulgaria's new President Rosen Plevneliev.

The accession treaty for Croatia was signed at the European Council last December and mandates that if it is ratified by all parties, Croatia will become an EU member in July 2013.

The process of ratification by all member states should be completed by June 30 2013.
