Code yellow for potentially dangerous weather has been declared over almost the entire territory of Bulgaria due to an incipient cold wave.

The national weather service at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences announced code yellow for all regions, except Kyustendil and Blagoevgrad in the south-west.

Sunday temperatures in most places will not rise above -10 degrees C, with wind in northern Bulgaria creating a significant windchill.

Lows reached -13 to -17 C, but are expected to drop even more significiantly over the course of the coming week.

Snowfall, which caused major traffic and power supply problems throughout Bulgaria Thursday and Friday, has abated.

The main roads are opened and cleared for traffic, and a ban on freight trucks travel has been lifted.
