Two Bulgarian and five Romanian tourists have been rescued from the Varbishki mountain pass in eastern Bulgaria near the village of Beronovo in the Burgas Region.

The news was reported by the local fire rescue services.

The road was closed and the travelers failed to obey the directions.

The call was received on the emergency 112 hotline around 3 pm. The seven people traveled in 2 SUVs and got stuck in snow drifts. Two rescue teams and equipment were dispatched immediately to the spot.

Around 6 pm they were able to establish contact with those in distress. The rescue effort concluded successfully around 9:30 pm.
