Arab Spring Leaders to Discuss Democratic Transition in Sofia

Representatives of the Syrian opposition have arrived in Bulgarian capital Sofia at the invitation of Foreign Affairs Minister Nikolay Mladenov to take part in a forum devoted to the events of the Arab Spring.

The second edition of the "Sofia Platform" organized by the Bulgarian government unites politicians and intellectuals from the Arab world to discuss the topic of "Justice in Transition" in the light of the Arab Spring.

Official representatives from Tunisia and Egypt, the Libyan National Transitional Council, leaders from Yemen, Bahrain and Syria are set to take part in the event Saturday.

The Bulgarian hosts are going to be represented by PM Boyko Borisov, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Mladenov and president-elect Rosen Plevneliev.

Former Bulgarian Presidend Zhelyu Zhelev, who was Bulgaria's special envoy for constitutional assembly elections in Tunisia, will also take part in the event.
