Bulgaria's outgoing President Georgi Parvanov has become a grandfather after coming back from a state visit to Azerbaijan.

Parvanov's elder son Vladimir and his wife Tsvetanka have just had their first baby. The baby boy was born Tuesday with a weight of 3 800 gr, and will be named Georgi after his prominent grandfather, Darik Radio reported.

Vladimir Parvanov, the elder son of Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov, married his long-time girlfriend Tsvetanka in July 2010 in what has been described by everyone as a "modest ceremony," shying away from much publicity and lavishness.

Vladimir is an IT specialist while his wife is a medical student; the two met at a party four years ago.

Bulgaria's President, whose second and last term expires in January 2012, offered people at the VIP terminal of Sofia Airport a treat as he was welcomed with the news about his grandson upon landing in Sofia from Baku Tuesday.

Bulgaria's President Parvanov also has a younger son named Ivaylo.
