Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov Holds Strong in ATP Top Ten
In the latest update of the ATP world rankings, Grigor Dimitrov, Bulgaria's most successful tennis player, maintains his position in the top ten despite a slight drop
Grigor Dimitrov, Bulgaria's top male tennis star, and Peter McNamara have ended their coaching relationship, the Patrick Mouratoglou Academy reported.
The two were together for a year-and-a-half, and Australian McNamara helped Bulgaria's most prominent tennis hopeful reach a career-high No. 52 ranking in the ATP list – a 300-spot climb. Dimitrov is currently 71st in the ranking.
Only two weeks ago, in an interview for the Bulgarian Capital weekly, the Bulgarian declared he would not be replacing his coach, saying this would be "a too drastic of a measure."
He did, however, admit he counted in the last months mainly on his father's help.
"I needed him and called him for the last five tournaments; I sensed I couldn't keep going on without him. He knows my specific technique best; he is able to tell me what doesn't work and how to fix it. Two quarter finals in three weeks with him are quite of a good result," Dimitrov said.
Patrick Mouratoglou inform the academy will take its time in hiring a new coach for the Bulgarian, whose previous trainer was Peter Lundgren from Sweden.
