A bus with Bulgarian registration veered off its path, resulting in 11 injuries, two of which are reported to be severe
An earthquake with a 5.7 magnitude on the Richter scale has been registered once again in the southeastern Turkish province of Van.
The aftershock occurred at 5:55 pm local time. The epicenter is at a depth of 7.3 km and it is located 37 km from the town of Van. It has been felt in the Armenian capital Erevan and other places across Turkey.
There are no reported injuries and material damage, but the rattle had triggered a prison riot in Van – the town which was the most severely devastated by the October 23 earthquake.
The Sunday quake had a 7.2 magnitude on the Richter scale – it killed 432 and injured over 1 350.
According to reports, gunshots have been fired in the local jail, and there are smoke and flames over the building.
Meanwhile, as Turkey declined any international help, rescue teams continue to dig in the rubble with the hope to find survivors.
On Tuesday, they pulled a 2-week-old baby, his mother and grand-mother, a pregnant woman and her two children.
Turkish authorities plan to deliver another 12 000 tents for those in need of shelter as discontent is growing and people from Van are blaming the government for shortages of basic staples.
