Bulgaria's international football squad has collapsed to the 75th place in the FIFA /Coca Cola World Ranking.

The Bulgarian national squad that reached the historically high 8th spot back in 1995 is now lagging behind the likes of Cape Verde Islands, Siera Leone, Libya and Uzbekistan.

No other team among the top 100 has registered a more rapid fall than Bulgaria – 20 spots down as compared with the last ranking.

Bulgaria's dismal performance in the Euro 2012 qualifiers is the main reason behind the massive collapse. The Balkan squad finished last in its qualifying group with just 5 points.

The Bulgarian national football squad is currently headed by interim coach Mihail Madanski after German legend Lothar Matthaeus was recently fired due to a series of bad results.

On Wednesday, it was made clear that Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov, who announced last year his withdrawal as captain of the national team, has made it clear he will not be heading back to Bulgaria despite the fans' beggings and pleas.
