Little Pamela from the town of Kula, in Bulgaria's Vidin Region, had her first day of school Thursday, September 15, when school in Bulgaria traditionally kicks off.
In 2004 Pamela, then 7 months old, became Bulgaria's first ever liver transplant in a life-saving surgery, after receiving parts of her father's liver.
The surgery was performed at the Lozenets University Hospital in Sofia, the hospital of Sofia University.
Thursday the team of doctors who conducted the life-saving procedure 7 years back was in Kula to join Pamela on her entry to school.
"For those years Pamela has become a part of our team and truly a symbol for successful transplantation in our country," commented Dr. Spasov, head of the Lozenets University Hospital.
