Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi is ready to begin talks to transfer power, a Gaddafi spokesman has announced.
BBC cites Sunday a Libyan news agency informing the spokesperson had said that discussions would be led by Col. Gaddafi's son, Saadi.
Opposition rebels, who now control most of the country, including the capital Tripoli, believe the country's embattled leader is still in hiding in the area.
The BBC's correspondent Jon Leyne reports the latest offer will be seen as just another sign of the delusional state of Col. Gaddafi and his followers.
Meanwhile, on the background of possible talks on transfer of power, the situation in Tripoli is worsening by the hour and more evidence is emerging of mass killings in the country.
The Libyan opposition informs supplies of fuel and water should begin arriving in Tripoli - amid fears that Tripoli's water supply may have been poisoned by Col. Gaddafi's forces.
Large districts of the city are without water and power. Hospitals are suffering shortages of medication and fuel for ambulances.
More than 50 charred bodies have been found in a burnt out warehouse next to a military base south of the capital.
