The Bulgarian rhythmic gymnastics team won Saturday the gold medal in the overall competition for the World Cup held in Sofia.

The event takes place at the brand new sports facility in the capital – Arena Armeets.

The Bulgarian girls won the gold by an outstanding performance with 6 balls, 3 ribbons and 2 hoops. Russia is 2nd, followed by Belarus.

The tournament was opened by Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, in the presence of sports legends such as the Chair of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee, Stefka Kostadinova, the Chair of the Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, Maria Gigova, and representatives of the International Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation.

The facility is given for use to the World Cup competition free of charge.

"This event would never happen without your personal help and involvement," Gigova said during the ceremony, addressing Borisov.
