Cherven Bryag Tragedy: Man Kills Woman, Commits Suicide
In a tragic turn of events, a 57-year-old man fatally assaulted a 42-year-old woman in her Cherven Bryag home before taking his own life in another residence
Bulgarian Atanas Ivanov, 34, a political scientist working as an expert within the leftist oppositional Bulgarian Socialist Party's headquarters, killed both his parents Friday and committed suicide.
Ivanov's body was found in front of the block of flats in the city of Pernik, where he was living, near the capital Sofia. He had stab wounds, which may suggest he had tried to kill himself with a knife before he ended up jumping from the seventh floor, a prosecutor working on the case has told Darik radio.
While inspecting Ivanov's apartment, police officers stumbled upon the bodies of his mother, aged 66, and his father, 79. Both had stab wounds. The door of Ivanov's apartment was locked from the inside, so the police have generally ruled out the possibility of an outside perpetrator.
