Saturday marks the second anniversary of the tragic death of one of the most prominent musicians – Michael Jackson, the King of Pop.

Michael Jackson died suddenly in his Los Angeles home on June 25, 2009, while rehearsing for an ambitious concert tour. The cause of death is deemed an overdose of painkillers, but details remain unclear.

The trial against the singer's personal physician, Doctor Conrad Murray is ongoing. Murray insists he is innocent and rejects the charges of unpremeditated murder.

Just days ago, Latoya Jackson, sister of Michael Jackson, and also a singer, told CNN she was convinced her brother was murdered, and the latter had suspicions it might happen, pointing out "people who controlled him" were to blame.

Jackson's first wife and Elvis Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, also said in a recent interview that the singer was afraid for his live and believed he might be killed so that certain individuals can profiteer from his songs.

The King of Pop's death was followed by the documentary This Is It (2009), showing his rehearsals for the tour, and the album Michael (2010).

Tributes to Jackson continue all over the world until today – in April, 2011, a statue of the musician was inaugurated in London. Just Friday, the Music Express magazine published results from a readers' survey, according to which the King of Pop has been ranked the best front-man in music, leaving behind performers such as Freddy Mercury and Elvis Presley.

Jackson's albums' sales amount to over 350 000 000 copies.
