The Tsunami warning announced after a 7.2 earthquake took place in the Pacific Ocean on Thursday, about 172 kilometers east of Atka, Alaska.
The West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center posted a tsunami warning for some coastal areas of Alaska, but canceled it about an hour after the quake. The warning covered an area from 80 miles northeast of Dutch Harbor to about 125 miles west of Adak.
The earthquake occured at a depth of about 40 kilometers at around 06:10 p.m. local time Thursday. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, according to the US Geological Survey.
The quake was followed by a second one of the same magnitude in the same vicinity and at the same depth a half-minute later, the US Geological Survey said.
