A newborn baby and three adults were seriously injured after a car and an ambulance crashed on the Todor Alexandrov Boulevard in Sofia early Thursday.

At four o'clock in the morning, the ambulance, carrying a pregnant woman who was giving birth, crossed a red traffic light and ran into a car driven by a young woman who had failed to hear the sirens because she had been playing music too loud, according to reports of bTV.

After the collision, the ambulance spun around and smashed into a billboard.

The mother, the midwife and the ambulance driver have been seriously wounded, while the newborn and the father have suffered lighter injuries. The car driver has emerged unscathed from the accident.

The breath analyzer tests showed both drivers had been sober.
