Croatian Ruling Party Triumphs in Elections, Tough Negotiations Ahead
In a widely expected outcome, Croatia's ruling conservative party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), emerged victorious in the parliamentary elections
Bulgarian ruling center-right GERB party is taking very seriously the upcoming campaign for municipal elections, said leader and Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov.
Speaking in an interview for bTV Monday, Borisov said he uses his spare time to draw lists of candidates for town hall councillors.
"Both presidential and local authorities elections in the fall are important, but municipal elections are the more important among the two," said the Bulgarian PM.
Asked for GERB's goal for municipal elections, the party leader stated: "We want to win in the big cities."
At the same time he chose to keep not unveiling GERB's nomination for presidential candidates, as well as the party's candidates for major mayor positions.
In particular, Borisov did not reveal whether the incumbent Sofia Mayor, GERB's Yordanka Fandakova will be the party's nominee for the capital.
He explained that the decision to keep names in secret was a "tactics" on the part of GERB, and that early September through October will be time enough for an official campaign.
