A team of the Bulgarian National TV was attacked late Monday in Athens during a nationalist anti-immigrant protest in the Greek capital.

The incident happened when a reporting team from BNT went to the America square in Athens, in a neighborhood populated by many immigrants, where a demonstration was called, reported BNT Tuesday morning.

The cameraman managed to film scenes of violence, including several beatings, show window breaking and destroying of property belonging to foreigners.

According to the BNT reporter, in some cases extremists dragged immigrants from their homes to beat them.

Soon after, members of the rioting crowd turned on them, taking away the tape from the camera. None of the reporters were seriously hurt.

The BNT report implies that Greek police, who were present at the site of the protest, did not do much to prevent the violence and rioting.
