Several cases of anthrax on livestock have been discovered near the Turkish-Bulgarian border in the village of Yeni Kadin, Odrin Region, Turkey.

The local agricultural authorities informed that laboratory analysis has determined anthrax in five domestic animals, which have been duly destroyed.

The village has been put on a 15-day quarantine, with all animal living grounds disinfected. Residents have also been studied for anthrax. Livestock movement in and out of the village is prohibited.

On the other hand, the local mayor informed that through the village goes a road on which many trucks with animals travel, which might have brought the infection.

According to authorities, no anthrax cases have been discovered in neighboring villages, but they have nevertheless been put under strict sanitary control.
