Alexander Tsvetkov, Bulgaria's Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications in the Cabinet of the center-right GERB party, resigned his post on Wednesday, May 18, 2011.
Alexander Tsvetkov was born on August 26, 1967, in the northern city of Pleven.
He graduated with a Master's degree in international economic relations from the University for National and World Economy in Sofia, and with a Master's in transport construction from the High Institute of Architecture and Construction in Sofia.
In 1994, Tsvetkov started working at the Main "Roads" Directorate. In 1994-1995, he was a head of a department there, and in 1995-2001, he was a Deputy Director.
In 2001-2005, Tsvetkov was a head of a department in the Executive "Roads" Agency.
In 2006-2008, he was the head of the Transport Infrastructure Directorate at the Sofia Municipality.
In 2008-2009, he was the Deputy Mayor of Sofia in charge of Transport and Transport Communications under Mayor Boyko Borisov.
In 2009-2011, he served as Transport Minister in Borisov's Cabinet.
