Bulgaria, as well as the other EU member states, is putting visible efforts in coping with migration problem triggered by the turmoils in North Africa, according to Malta's President, George Abela.

The Balkan peninsula is becoming a more and more secure region, he also stated.

Abela pointed out he values highly the dialogue between his country and Bulgaria and pointed out that bilateral agreements on areas such as sea transport and sports have been signed.

The Maltese President arrived Thursday on a three-day visit to the Balkan country. He conversed with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

Bulgaria and Malta will continue to develop active relations on all levels, Borisov declared. He expressed his hope that the Maltese President and his delegation will be convinced Bulgaria is ready to join Schengen during their stay there.
