Bulgarian customs authorities nabbed a Romanian citizen trying to smuggle cigarettes in Greece in a quite unusual way – hidden in snail shells.

Early on Wednesday, a Romanian truck was stopped by customs officers at the Southwestern Bulgarian Kulata crosspoint. It turned out it was transporting 600 master boxes containing contraband cigarettes of the "Classic" brand hidden in snail shells. The authorities are investigating the case.

Also on Wednesday, Turkish police officers busted a truck driver in the city of Denizli trying to smuggle 22 000 packets of cigarettes into Bulgaria.
