Estonia Considers Declaring Moscow Patriarchate a Terrorist Organization
Estonia's Interior Minister, Lauri Läänemets, has revealed plans to propose labeling the Moscow Patriarchate as a terrorist organization
The death of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden calls for increased security measures, according to the global police agency, Interpol.
Law enforcement authorities should be extra vigilant due to the heightened terror risk from al-Qaeda affiliated or al-Qaeda inspired terrorists as a result of bin Laden's death, according to the agency.
"The world's most-wanted international terrorist is no more, but the death of bin Laden does not represent the demise of Al Qaeda affiliates and those inspired by Al Qaeda, who have and will continue to engage in terrorist attacks around the world," Interpol Secretary General Ronald K. Noble said, as cited by Jerusalem Post.
"We therefore need to remain united and focused in our ongoing co-operation and fight, not only against this global threat but also against terrorism by any group anywhere," he added.
In the aftermath of the killing of the Al-Qaeda leader, the US issued an alert to its embassies around the world, warning Americans of the possibility of Al-Qaeda retaliation attacks.
Early on Monday, bin Laden was killed in a military operation in Pakistan that U.S. President Barack Obama ordered on Sunday. U.S. special forces launched a helicopter-borne assault on a closely guarded compound in Abbottabad, 30 miles north-east of Islamabad, on Sunday night, Obama and US officials explained.
Bin Laden and three other individuals, among whom one of his sons and a woman used as a human shield, were killed in a firefight. The operation lasted 40 minutes, according to the Guardian. Six other sons, three wives and four aides were arrested, Lieutenant General Ahmad Shuja Pasha, the director general of Inter-Services Intelligence, said before the Dunaya television.
