King Charles III Diagnosed with Cancer, Postpones Public Duties
Buckingham Palace has announced that Britain's King Charles III has been diagnosed with a form of cancer
Prince William and Catherine Middleton, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have celebrated their marriage with dinner and dancing at Buckingham Palace, along with about 300 friends and family.
The reception, hosted by the Prince of Wales, had featured Prince Harry's best man speech and Michael Middleton's father of the bride address, the BBC reported.
The bride wore a white evening gown by Sarah Burton, the same fashion designer, who created her wedding dress. A St James's Palace spokesman, cited by BBC, said the new duchess had donned a white angora bolero cardigan over her white satin gazar dress, which featured a circle skirt and diamante embroidered detail round the waist.
The bride's sister Pippa, who, by some accounts had been the more beautiful sibling during the wedding ceremony, had changed for the evening reception into a long emerald green sleeveless dress with a jeweled embellishment on the front and a plunging neckline.
Their mother wore a black capped sleeve dress, cut low at the front and back, with a tiered skirt.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh did not attend over plans for a private weekend away.
The State Rooms, including the grand ballroom, were used for the reception, according to the BBC report.
The ballroom, measuring over 36 meters in length and 18 meters in width, is the largest of the 775 rooms in the palace.
It was added in the 1850s at the request of Queen Victoria and opened in 1856 with a ball to celebrate the end of the Crimean War.
After the reception, lasting until the wee-hours Saturday, the couple stayed at the Buckingham palace.
Details of a possible honeymoon have not been made public.
On Friday and Saturday, pubs across Great Britain were and are allowed to remain open for an additional two hours beyond regular closing time. Millions of Brits marked the royal wedding with street parties, picnics and other festivities.
However, one party in Glasgow's Kelvingrove Park resulted in 21 arrests as police attempted to disperse thousands of revelers after the Glasgow City Council urged people not to attend the "unsafe and unofficial" party.
One police officer was injured and several police vans had their windows smashed in clashes attributed to "completely unacceptable" levels of drunkenness.
