A police crisis has occurred in downtown Sofia as a man is threatening to blow himself up, according to unconfirmed reports.

Several police and fire brigade units have sealed off a large section of the Georgi Rakovski Street in the Sofia downtown as it is unknown how strong an explosion could the armed man cause.

Several police officers in bullet-proof vests are reported to have entered a building near the crossing of the Georgi Rakovski Street and the Alexander Dondukov Blvd, BGNES reported.

There has been no official information about the police crisis and about the armed man's demands.
