No major incidents have been reported during the British royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton but the UK police have arrested 43 people.

According to a security services spokesman, 5 000 police officers were mobilized to guard the wedding and the hundreds of thousands of spectators who watched it on the spot.

Scotland Yard said the 43 arrests were made within the wedding procession area, and the detainees are arrested mostly for minor misdemeanors.

The massive police presence was visible all along the route of the procession, and on the roofs of the buildings around the Westminster Abbey.

The police further announced that two protest rallies against the royal wedding were dispersed, while two other relies in downtown London were benign.
