The driver, who killed 6 Bulgarian teens in a hellish car accident in the Southeastern town of Simeonovgrad, woke up from his coma late on Thursday.
23-year-old Daniel Georgiev crashed his car into a group of young people late last Saturday night, killing 6 teenagers and wounding 2. The tragedy shocked Bulgaria on Easter. The victims themselves were walking out of a home to go to church for the midnight Easter service.
Georgiev is still at the intensive care unit of the University hospital in the city of Plovdiv, Darik radio reports.
The youngster was driving extremely fast and had a blood alcohol content of 1.3 permilles in the night of the accident. He will face a charge of causing death by drink-driving facing from 5 to 15 years in jail.
Zhivko Zhelev, 19, who let his drunk friend Georgiev drive his vehicle, was detained for 24 hours and released by the police.
