Bread certified with the Bulgarian State standard is being offered for the first time Thursday in stores across the country.
Only one bread maker so far had been able to fulfill all requirements and produce the new, high-quality bread, the TV channel bTV informs. Several other companies have obtained a license, and are fully prepared to launch production while 15 others are still awaiting visits from health and food safety inspectors.
The State standard is named "Bulgaria." Bread with "Bulgaria" standard has a special logo on the packaging.
The standard was prepared by bread-maker organizations and the Food Safety Agency.
Bread with "Bulgaria" logo has no food colorings and additives, and is made from high-quality flour, water, salt and yeast. The salt amount is significantly lower than the average currently used in the Bulgarian bread market.
