Bulgaria ranks 135th in the world by the quality of its road infrastructure, Economy and Energy Minister, Traicho Traikov, announced Tuesday.
Traikov took part in the conference "Competitiveness of Bulgarian Economy – Absorption of EU Funds."
The Minister further said Bulgaria ranks 90th by innovations, behind countries such as Tunisia and Indonesia, which are rated among the top 50.
Other rankings reported by the Minister are – the 140th spot by effectiveness of institutions, 137th – by public expenses on farming, 125th – by effectiveness of the judicial system, 114th – by the effectiveness of anti-monopoly legislation, 96th by the quality of the electric network.
Some better rankings include the 67th place by the quality of university education, 58th - by the quality of health care and elementary education, 42nd in macroeconomic stability, and 45th – by internet access in schools.
Bulgarian women, however, pull the country ahead to the 35th ranking by the share of female participation in the labor marker, an achievement no one can take away, according to the Minister.
Traikov also informed that no more than half million Bulgarians are employed in sectors with high added value.
