Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Simeon Djankov has made an equivocal statement about a possible reshuffle in the Borisov Cabinet.
Djankov, who is in charge of the economy and superior to half of the ministers in the government of the center-right GERB party and PM Boyko Borisov, said he was dissatisfied with the performance of some of his colleagues, speaking on Nova TV Sunday night.
He mentioned that more can be expected from the Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism Traicho Traikov and Agriculture Minister Miroslav Naydenov, even though he did mention that Traikov has got the toughest job running the entire Economy Ministry.
In his words, Traikov is focusing too much on the energy sector, and should be paying more attention to the overall economy, which should get the country out of the economic crisis.
Over the past two weeks Traikov received a "final warning" from Prime Minister Boyko Borisov after public disagreements with moves ordered by his superior, Finance Minister Simeon Djankov over the latest deal with the Russians for the construction of the Belene nuclear power plant.
"More is said than done in the Agriculture Ministry from which entire rural regions of the country expect a lot more," Djankov stated while also mentioning that more is expected from the Transport Ministry.
The Deputy PM described the work of Regional Development Minister Rosen Plevneliev and Environment Minister Nona Karadzhova as excellent. Culture Minister Vezhdi Rashidov was also mentioned as an outstanding performer especially because he is working to build new museums.
Asked explicitly if he will recommend changes in the government to Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, Djankov only stated he will be letting Borisov know what he thinks.
