Bulgaria: Bulgarian Receives ‘Guinness Record’ Electricity Bill File photo

A Bulgarian citizen by the name of Ivan Iliev may have accidentally entered the Guinness World Records book, as he received a bill worth an estimated 19 000 years of electricity use.

According to the bill, sent by the E.ON company, Iliev owns a little over BGN 19 M, or almost USD 14 M. As his son-in-law estimated, this sum equals his household's average electricity consumption for some 19 000 years.

In the bill, Iliev was politely asked to pay the sum by the end of Tuesday, when it was received, unless he wanted to have his electricity cut off. Ironically, the surprise coincided with his birthday.

E.ON was fast to admit the bill was an error, as Iliev actually owned a mere BGN 84, the Narodno Delo daily reported.
