The Minister of Economy and Energy, TraichoTtraikov, did not take part in the Wednesday meeting between the cabinet, the freight carriers, merchants and manufacturers of fuels, as it was announced initially.
The information was reported by the Minister himself, upon leaving the Council of Ministers building after the cabinet's meeting.
When asked by reporters if this has been his own decision or he has been asked to leave, Traikov declined giving a straight answer, only saying Transport Minister, Aleksander Tsvetkov, is not taking part as well. The only representatives of the cabinet are Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, and Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov.
The Bulgarian daily 24 Chasa (24 Hours) cites own sources, saying Traikov has been removed on the request of Lukoil Bulgaria.
Traikov confirmed he has received a letter from Lukoil giving only formal answers to his inquiries, but avoiding the real explanations.
The Minister said the conflict between the Lukoil company and himself, is a PR campaign, unprecedented for the history of this cabinet, adding only one foreign firm had so far dared to use such tone with Bulgarian officials – the Russian Rosatom, but did not elaborate on details.
Traikov commented that due to the cabinet's reaction, the fuels market in Bulgaria is moving in the right direction, pointing out a week ago, diesel price was lower in 10 EU Member States, and currently there are only 5 of them.
When asked if he sees any reasons to remain part of the cabinet, he replied: "You see there are reasons; my opinion matters.
