Leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party Sergey Stanishev said that large-scale social protests are imminent in Bulgaria against the economic situation in the country.

Speaking in Novo Selo on Todorovden festivities, Stanishe said that cabinet should take up earnest measures to limit price hike of staples and energy, and to reduce the burden inflation is bringing onto the population.

"What we're talking about now is not a dignified life for Bulgarians, but rather their mere subsistence," said the socialist leader.

He further criticized the government of PM Boyko Borisov for chronically failing to formulate realistic policies in the economic sphere and bring them to fruition.
