The world will be in shock of what is happening in Libya, said Hristo Grigorov, Chair of the Bulgarian Red Cross, on Thursday.
"At present, humanitarian units are not allowed in Libya, but when this happens, we will be surprised and shocked," Grigorov said in Veliko Tarnovo Thursday as cited by Darik Radio.
He defined the situation in the North African country as a "humanitarian catastrophe".
"A genocide is happening there. People are being killed, cities are being destroyed. This is not a local conflict and I hope that this agony will be over as soon as possible," Grigorov said.
In his words, Bulgaria will sooner or later face a wave of refugees. The Bulgarian Red Cross Chair said that as an EU member state, the country will have to accept the common political decision on the issue.
Italy is the most affected country from the wave of refugees escaping from the ongoing turmoil in Libya.
