The 180-seat aircraft provided by the Technoexportstroy company on the order of Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, has obtained permission to land at the Tripoli International Airport.

The information was announced for the Bulgarian National Radio, BNR, by the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Vesela Cherneva.

The state-owned Technoexportstroy has secured the plane to evacuate Bulgarian citizens currently in Libya amidst reports tensions are escalating.

Since the situation inside the country is dangerous and unstable, the Foreign Ministry advises Bulgarians to refrain from traveling and informs the plane should be used only by those who are in Tripoli and the nearby areas.

Regarding exit visas, required by Libyan authorities for all EU citizens, Cherneva explained EU Ambassadors have received assurances people without such visas will be allowed to leave the country.

The Foreign Ministry appeals to all Bulgarians in the area of the Libyan capital, who are in possession of their passports and believe there is no danger for their safety, to report at Tripoli International Airport at 12:00 pm (noon). They must bring their passports regardless of having or not an exit visa. It is recommended they bring food and water.

The airport in the second largest Libyan city Benghazi remains closed.

According to official data, about 500 Bulgarians are in Libya, but the number could be much higher. Half of them are in and near Tripoli, the others are dispersed in cities and towns in the eastern part of the country.

Bulgaria is getting ready for evacuation the government's Airbus, but it is awaiting flight permission.
