Countless protesters rallied in Cairo demanding the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak in what has been described as their largest protest ever.

Thus, fifteen days after the April 6 Youth Movement pinned global attention on Egypt in the start of a revolution in the largest Arab country initiated and organized through online social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, the protesters continue to be unyielding.

According to correspondents of major international media, the rally that Cairo's Tahrir Square saw Tuesday night was the largest in the 30-year history of 82-year-old President Hosni Mubarak's rule of Egypt.

Huge crowds of protesters have also rallied in other major Egyptian cities as the protest movement has not been weakened by certain concessions and promises for salary raises and other social measures, and continues to demand Mubarak's resignation before the presidential vote scheduled for September 2011, and the holding of free and fair elections.

An executive of Google Inc. is emerging as a leader in the youth movement organizing the protests. Wael Ghonim, the Google  executive administered a Facebook page that played a key role in mobilizing a demonstration for Jan. 25.

Ghonim, 30 years old, was released from state security detention Monday and arrived Tuesday evening in Tahrir Square, where he gave a brief speech.

"For a long time, I've been saying we have a voice that should be heard. We have a right that should be taken seriously. We will take that right, even if we die as martyrs. Your demands are my demands. For the president to step down is our demand from now on," Ghonim said as cited by The Wall Street Journal.
