Masked men have carried out a terrorist attack blowing up the Israel-Egypt natural gas pipeline in El Arish on the 12th day of anti-government protests in Egypt.

The natural gas terminal is located in Northern Sinai, 10 km away from the Egypt-Gaza border. The pipeline supplies natural gas from Egypt to Israel via the Gaza Strip.

The explosion occurred early Saturday morning, the Egyptian state television reported describing the incident as a terrorist attack. Flames continued to rage at the scene, according to various reports, no injuries were reported.

On Friday, a new rally by hundreds of thousands of protesters in central Cairo and behind-the-scenes diplomacy from the Obama administration piled more pressure on Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to make a swift exit from office and allow a temporary government to embark on an immediate path toward democracy.
